GFA (Gourdie-Fraser) is a full-service consulting firm providing civil and structural engineering, surveying, construction services and contract operations. GFA was established in 1948 in downtown Traverse City as the John C. Norton Company. Since that time we’ve grown along with the area and in 2020 we’ll be celebrating 72s year in business – as well as a Builder’s Exchange Award of Excellence for Traverse City’s 8th Street Reconstruction Project!

Federal Contracting
We completed our first project for the federal government in 1962. GFA is a SBA small business with large-business contracting experience. Over these 50+ years of contracting we’ve completed many as-needed agreements at the local, state and federal levels, as well as public and private utilities.
